Winner of the Camera d'Or at Cannes, a Cesar for Best First Film and boasting an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, Tran Anh Hung’s first feature, "The Scent of Green Papaya" (1993), met with considerable critical acclaim on the international arena. With this first deeply personal, beautifully crafted film, Tran Anh Hung created a niche of his own amongst young European filmmakers, confirming his talent with his second feature, "Cyclo," awarded the Golden Lion for Best Feature Film at the 1995 Venice Film Festival. "A la verticale de l'été" ("At the Height of Summer") was presented in the Un Certain Regard Section at Cannes in 2000.
