The Edinburgh International Film Festival celebrates it’s 60th anniversary this year, to be held from August 17 through 27, 2006.
Once again, French actors and directors will be well represented at the event. The Rosebud Section features “L’Annulaire” (“The Ring Finger”) by Diane Bertrand, “De Particulier à Particulier” (“Hotel Harabati”) by Brice Cauvin, “Oublier Cheyenne” (“Looking for Cheyenne”) by Valérie Minetto, and “Les Oiseaux du ciel” (“Birds of Heaven”) by Eliane de Latour, in the presence of the films’ directors.
The Directors’ Showcase includes “La Raison du plus faible” (“The Right of the Weakest”) by Lucas Belvaux, “Du jour au lendemain” by Philippe Le Guay, “Changement d’adresse” (“Change of Address”) by Emmanuel Mouret, “La Tourneuse de pages” by Denis Dercourt, and “L’Appel des arènes” (“Wrestling Grounds”) by Cheikh N’Diaye.
The Late Night Romps section will showcase “Sheitan” by Kim Chapiron and “Ils” (“Them”) by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, while the Black Box section includes “Zidane, un portrait du XXIe siècle” by Philippe Parreno and Douglas Gordon, screened in the presence of Philippe Parreno).
The festival’s outgoing Artistic Director Shane Danielsen will hand over the reins at the close of this year’s event to his newly appointed successor, Hannah McGill.
