Organized by Unifrance, in collaboration with the Ambassade de France in China, the 22nd French Film Panorama in China will open first in Beijing on March 25, 2026, and then in Shanghai on March 27, featuring the film That Summer in Paris, with director Valentine Cadic in attendance.
The opening ceremony will also be attended by Sophie Marceau and Jiang Wen, the event’s honorary patrons, as the festival makes its way through ten cities across the country.
Jiang Wen, this year’s Chinese patron, is one of China’s leading contemporary filmmakers, having begun his career as an actor under Xie Jin and Zhang Yimou. He successfully transitioned to directing, notably with his debut feature In the Heat of the Sun. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of the greatest stars of Chinese cinema: Ge You, Chow Yun-Fat, Shu Qi, Gong Li, Xu Jinglei, Liu Xiaoqing, and Zhang Ziyi.
Sophie Marceau rose to fame at a very young age thanks to the films The Party / La Boum (1980) and its sequel La Boum 2 (1982), both massive box-office hits. Her career then took off in France—notably with Alain Corneau's Fort Saganne (1984), Maurice Pialat's Police (1985), Lisa Azuelos' LOL (Laughing Out Loud)(2008), and François Ozon's Everything Went Fine (2021)—but also internationally, with numerous memorable films such as Braveheart (1995) and The World Is Not Enough (1999), in which she played a James Bond girl. One of the most famous French actresses of her generation, Marceau has also directed several films: Speak to Me of Love (2002), Trivial (2007), and Mrs. Mills (2018).
