The Annie Awards, the equivalent of the Oscars dedicated to animation, announced their nominations for the 2022 edition on Tuesday, December 21. Many French works feature on the list.
With more than 9 nominations in different categories, the Arcane series (excutively produced in France by Fortiche Production for Netflix) stands out from the rest and appears to be a solid candidate. Flee, the minority-French animated documentary via Vivement Lundi !, continues its long festival career with four nominations.
In addition, Sommet des dieux has been nominated in the Best Indie Feature category. Finally, nominations for two audiovisual "specials," three professional shorts, two student shorts, and one VR work complete this strong French presence. Congratulations to all the nominees and companies!
The Annie Awards 2022 ceremony should have taken place on February 26, 2022 in Los Angeles, it is finally pushed to the 12th of March in a digital format.
