The grand total of 27 animated films in the running for this prestigious Oscar is already a record in and of itself. But seven French films present in this first selection creates another record.

In terms of animated short films, 14 French titles are currently among the 70 films (yet another record) selected for the longlist presented to the AMPAS members. We should note that the French production house Autour de Minuit has the lion's share, with 6 films produced or coproduced by the company.
