The FIFF (FIFF) is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year: a fine age for a festival dedicated to the French-speaking world in all its global variations, with French films taking the lion's share of the selection this year.
Three feature film sections are included in this year's program: the Official Competition, the Debut Fiction Film Competition, and Views of the Present (fiction films, Belgian and international documentaries).
The Official Competition will present fifteen films, among which seven French productions/co-productions will be competing for the prestigious Bayard d'Or:
- The Apaches by Nassim Amaouche (France, Algeria)
- Courted by Christian Vincent
- La Vanité by Lionel Baier (Switzerland, France)
- Much Loved by Nabil Ayouch (Morocco, France)
- Parisienne by Danielle Arbid (France, Lebanon)
- Land Legs by Samuel Collardey
- A Childhood by Philippe Claudel
I'm All Yours by Baya Kasmi will be screened as closing film.
The jury for the Official Competition, led by Olivier Gourmet, is composed of seven movie industry personalities, including the French actors Laura Smet and Raphaël Personnaz.
Vanessa Paradis will be the focus of a "Coup de Coeur" event at the festival this year, with the actress/singer to take part in a Meet & Greet with audiences on October 9. Other French personalities attending the festival include Nathalie Baye, Maïwenn, Louise Bourgoin, Manu Payet, Vincent Cassel, Swann Arlaud, as well as a host of other actors and directors who will travel to the Belgian city to sample the offerings at this anniversary event.
