In 2002, while she's taking part in the Emergence workshops, whose mission is to help young directors carry out their projects, Laura Smet is recommended to Xavier Giannoli, then in search of the heroine for his first feature film, Eager Bodies. The film is highly remarked and the actress wins the Romy Schneider Prize as well as a nomination for the César for Best Hopeful in 2004. Laura Smet's troubling sensuality comes to the fore in often dark works by renowned directors such as Chabrol in The Bridesmaid and Philippe Garrel in Frontier of Dawn.
