Synopsis
French Guiana, women's penal colony, 1885. Louise is serving a sentence in a convent thousands of kilometers from France. When the prison authorities orchestrate arranged marriages with former convicts to populate the colony, Louise falls for Eugene, a former forger. Their union offers Louise a chance to regain her freedom and start a new life, but at what cost?
