Synopsis
Six countries, 60 years of coups and revolutions. Latin America under the influence of foreign powers.
It is compared to lands ravaged by hurricanes, where desolation gradually gives way to reconstruction, until the next cataclysm. Since the Second World War, Latin America has faced scourges that bear witness to its deep divisions and the dangerous appetites of the major powers. A series of coups, fierce repression, civil wars, drug trafficking and financial collapses paint a picture of a continent that is unstable, feverish and violent. To illustrate this, the documentary series by Delphine Jaudeau and Jean-Baptiste Péretié focuses on six countries (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Nicaragua, Panama and Venezuela) to trace the events of the last sixty years. Chilean exiles, opponents of Chavism, early Sandinistas, close associates of Lula, White House advisers and CIA agents deliver personal and historical accounts that bring the events back to life.
