Synopsis
Maria is raising her seven children in the suburbs of Bucharest. She has no aid or money. She ends up joining the prostitutes at a truck-stop parking lot. She encounters a strange mix of people, including a truck driver who promises her the sweet life.
Unbeknownst to her, a journalist makes her the star of a reality TV show.
“Maria” is the story of a woman caught up in the anarchic transition that contemporary Romania is undergoing, shifting from communist totalitarianism to the market economy.
