The Missing Half
Synopsis
Claire is pregnant. When she learns that she is expecting twins, she starts having panic attacks that soon become uncontrollable. Powerless to do anything about his wife’s neurosis, Pierre accepts that she undergo a multifetal pregnancy reduction to remove an embryo. But from this moment on, overcome with remorse, he withdraws from his wife and their unborn child, transferring all his affection to Laurent, a twenty-year-old disabled patient at Pierre’s ophthalmology practice. Laurent’s endearing personality upsets the fragile couple’s equilibrium. Taking tentative steps, almost without words, Claire and Pierre rediscover their ability to love, and they at last manage to accept the major decision they’d made.
