Synopsis
As far as Niemans is concerned, the man found immured in a monastery in Lorraine is not a victim like the others. The esoteric signs engraved into the stone around him and the strange ritual surrounding his sacrifice indicate something entirely different.
When Reda, a young police chief, discovers a half-dead man who looks exactly like Christ in front of a church, he initially believes he’s saved a lunatic. But he rapidly comes to realize that this case is linked to the one that Niemans, who was his teacher at the police academy, is investigating.
Murders pile up in the region. Each time, mysterious monks gifted with supernatural strength, eliminate strangers in spectacular ways before disappearing without leaving a trace. Niemans and Reda are mystified, until they realize that all the victims have the same name and the same profession as the Apostles.
Assisted by Marie, a specialist in religious history, they try to penetrate the secret of this incredible intrigue. Just who are these Angels of the Apocalypse that are spreading terror? What’s their link with the prophecies of the sacred texts? Why is the all-powerful Heimmerich Von Garten so interested in this monastery and its crypts? Niemans and Reda are determined to resolve the mystery, but to do so, they must delve deep into a secret that has been buried for centuries and coveted by a power that it seems nothing can stop…
