Synopsis
A sensual biography that exposes the life of Safiye, a young woman living in a Harem in Turkey. Over a number of years Safiye became the Sultan’s “favorite” though she indulges in a secret, passionate love affair with one of the Harem’s Eurichs Nadir. This is her story told 50 years later.

When I read the screenplay, I felt a call, a little voice telling me, "don't miss out on a story like this one, a role like this." A truly grand, beautiful female role. Safiye is simultaneously strong and fragile, gentle and bitter, serious and funny. She can be sunny or gloomy, elated or resigned, optimistic or depressed, decisive and combative. It's not really a portrait of a heroine, but rather of a dignified woman who learned to live in the fascinating, cruel world of a harem.
