Synopsis
Serge Perrin has always claimed that his life would not be ordinary, that he would rise above his humble yet generous origins. He was heading for great things, as an actor perhaps... At the age of 24, this young man from the provinces is a homeless and unemployed drifter in Paris and things are not looking good. But Serge Perrin, a modern-day Candide, never gives up. He has energy and imagination to spare. He wants to exist and dispel his loneliness. When he pushes open door of a police station, the great adventure is under way. He finds a star part at last...

About
"In my mind, the hero was a sort of modern-day Don Quixote. A young man who wants his life to be like one long film, full of adventure, joy and love, even if reality often lets him down. One fine day, yes, one fine day, I saw "The Bait", directed by Bertrand Tavernier (I'll be eternally grateful to him), a film that starred Bruno Putzulu. I immediately knew that I had found my Serge Perrin in this young man who, like the greatest actors, is able to make the audience cry and laugh at the same time. It's a great joy for a filmmaker to find his alter-ego in such a way and I'm never happier than when audiences share my enthusiasm for this outstanding actor."
(Jean-Pierre Améris)
