About
"For me, my heroine, Marie Benjamin, is neither ill nor crazy. She simply has a particular longing (a fetishist love for silk) which she seeks to assuage at all costs, even if, in doing so, she is sent to prison or to the asylum. For her, this craving is a driving force, not a burden. It's what keeps her alive and what enables her to struggle against all the odds. Like her, we all have secret desires which we must assuage if we want to stay alive, and I believe we owe it to ourselves to come to know such longings so that we may live our lives in harmony with them."
