gets a new look !
How life is strange ! Place Alexandrie, in the heart of the mainly Jewish Sentier, the rag-trade district of Paris, here, Alain Berrebi is enjoying a happy and prosperous existence in the company of his family in his ready-to-wear boutique XL. Until the day an old Auvergnat dies in the back-of-beyonds of the Cantal and suddenly his life becomes a nightmare. Everyone seems to want to drive poor Berrebi off his rocker, Arlette, his fiancée, the father David Stern, the cousin Nathan. Even the chinese... Sheer hell ! But when you touch rock-bottom, the only way is up. You get burnt, but you emerge with a thirst for life and dreams which become reality.
''My family still lives in Auvergne, and I started working with Agnès B. doing ready-to-wear. In fact, both communities have many things in common: the work ethic, the importance of the
family, of the mother, of mutual help. (...) And, even though Jews are reputed for hating the countryside, history saw fit to unite them with the Massif Central country-folk. During the war many Auvergnat people took in Jewish children.'' (Florence Quentin, Screenwriter - Extract from an article in the Figaro: 10/12/1997)
