TIFF honors three French productions

The 22nd Tokyo International Film Festival closed its doors yesterday with awards presented to three French films.

Julie Gayet picked up the Best Actress award for her role in Xabi Molia’s debut film, 8 fois debout (Eight Times Up). Loup (Wolf) by Nicolas Vanier received the Toyota Earth Grand Prix in the Natural TIFF section. Une vie toute neuve (A Brand New Life) by Ounie Lecomte won the Middle Eastern Film award in the Winds of Asia section (TIFF considers this film an Asian production as it is a co-production with Korea).

As in previous years, Unifrance made it possible for French artists to attend the festival in Tokyo. This year, the following artists were in attendance: Xabi Molia, Julie Gayet, and Nadia Turincev for 8 fois debou; Alain Guiraudie for Le Roi de l’évasion; Ounie Lecomte for Une vie toute neuve; and Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud for Océans, which was presented as opening film.
