From November 1 to 9, the city of Florence will host the 66th Festival Dei Popoli, festival international de documentaire en Italy. Italy's international documentary film festival. For the 2025 edition, the festival offers a rich and exacting program, with a particular focus on France.
This edition highlights 29 French productions and co-productions, drawn from a diverse selection of feature-length, medium-length, and short films presented in the various sections of the documentary festival.
As part of its support for this event dedicated to documentaries, Unifrance is involved through various initiatives, including a partnership with La Scam, which provides travel support for the selected French filmmakers.
As part of the festival's Industry section, which will take place from November 6 to 8, Unifrance will accompany a delegation of four emerging documentary producers as part of its strategy to support the transition from short to feature films. This initiative is co-organized by Unifrance, the Institut Français in Rome, and the French Consulate in Florence.
This special program reflects a desire to support and mentor the next generation of talent in film production. Among the professionals selected are four young producers who have already made a name for themselves with their innovative and committed approach to documentary filmmaking:
- Lorenzo Bianchi – Société Acéphale
- Mathilde Leite - Vilanova Productions
- Gaëtan Trigot - Pentacle Productions
- Eduardo Sosa Soria – La Féline
These producers will have the opportunity to present their first feature film projects in development, attend specific panels on co-production between France and Italy with the participation of the CNC and DGCA, and on documentary distribution in Italy. This focus on France highlights the diversity and creative energy of a new wave of documentary professionals.
On November 8, the French Consulate in Florence will host a cocktail reception in honor of France.
