Among the feature films presented at this year's festival, a number of titles have attracted particular interest in the international press:
"An engaging story directed with great sensitivity" is how Screen describes My Sunny Maad. "This film invites us to think about the reasons why we end up making decisions that are totally at odds with our way of looking at the world," states Animacionparaadultos.es. Animation-Week also published an in-depth interview with the film's director, Michaela Pavlátová.
Zippyframes delivers a review of the "highly-anticipated and excellent film" by Florence Miailhe, The Crossing.
For Screen Daily, Even Mice Belong in Heaven is described as a "charming stop-motion animation that is a visual delight." Variety announces that "Charades has closed major sales on the film."
Among the short films presented at Annecy, Mom and Under the Skin, the Bark, were included in the favorites of Animation Magazine: "Annecy's Short-Form Magic: A Sneak Peek at the Stunning 2021 Edition."
The Awakening of the Insects, Swallow the Universe, and What Resonates in Silence were singled out for praise by Variety: "10 Shorts Not To Miss at Annecy 2021."
