An event organized by the FIAF from February 5 through 15, the 2021 edition of Animation First will be held entirely online. American audiences will have the chance to discover a large number of French animated films, including fifty titles presented in American or New York premieres.
For this year's 4th edition of this festival dedicated to French animated films, spearheaded by the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), audiences throughout the United States will be able to discover the feature films Josep, Calamity, Chien Pourri, la vie à Paris !, and Zero Impunity.
The cult director Wes Anderson, who is special guest of this year's festival, will present his favorite animated films, with a tribute also programmed to the filmmaker Paul Grimault. And, for the first time, a short film competition will be held to shine a spotlight on films produced at animation schools in France and the United States.
The rich and diverse program of short films will include the cream of productions presented at the recent Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with a spotlight on the work of Florence Miailhe. A section of works-in-progress will see Benoît Chieux and Anca Damian offering a sneak peek at the first images of their upcoming films, Sirocco and the Kingdom of the Winds and The Island, with the special support by Unifrance.
UniFrance also supports the presentation of work-in-progress by young authors who have benefited from a residency at the Abbey of Fontevraud, in partnership with NEF Animation: Charlie Belin, Francis, Marie Larrivé, Sophie Racine and Justine Vuylsteker.
The festival will offer American audiences a complete online viewing package for US$20.
