The 28th edition of the French Film Festival in Yokohama organized by Unifrance in partnership with the City of Yokohama, Nissan, and the Ambassade de France in Japan, was to be held at the end of June. Due to the global public health crisis, it now will physically take place in Yokohama from December 10 through 13. Ten feature films (and six shorts) will thus meet an audience with a passion for French cinema.
The 28th edition of the French Film Festival in Yokohama will bring together, as every year, a selection of recent French films (including nine proposed by Japanese distributors).
If the Japanese muse of this edition is the actress Ryoko Yonekura, Isabelle Huppert will be the patron. The actress has sent a video message that will be screened on the opening night, Thursday, December 10, just before the screening of Jean-Paul Salomé's Mama Weed, the opening film of this edition, at the Aeon Cinema Minato Mirai in Yokohama (where the entire festival is taking place).
In order to better adapt to the reduced audience capacity stipulated by health measures, the opening screening will be coupled with a drive-in screening on the roof of the shopping mall where the cinema is located. A question-and-answer video with Isabelle Huppert and Jean-Paul Salomé will be shown after the film.
Other question-and-answer sessions, pre-recorded in Paris with the artists of all the films, will be presented after each screening.
Finally, a partnership with the Short Short Festival will allow a program of short films to be presented online, on the BSSTO platform, from December 5 to 18.
On December 11, from 11am to 12pm (local time), Alice Douard and Mathilde Profit will be guests of the online masterclass "Parent (Father) Child", hosted by Seigo Tono.
