Now establised as a not-to-be-missed event on Buenos Aires's cultural calendar, the Preview Screenings, entirely devoted to French cinema, held their 10th edition this year at the Cinemark Palermo from April 5 through 11.
This year, the Preview Screenings presented 15 films that have already enjoyed fine festival careers and the guest of honor of the 2018 edition was Laurent Cantet, Palme d’Or winner at Cannes in 2008. He was present in Buenos Aires for the Argentinian premiere of The Workshop, and has given a master class to launch the event.
The Preview Screenings are promoted through a campaign comprising adverts on radio, in newspapers, and on specialized websites, the distribution of postcards, and encounters with journalists and film critics. The goal is to highlight the event in the specialized press, for which the Preview Screenings cycle is already an event not to be missed.
Alongside this campaign, the cycle is promoted on social networks, through which people can consult the program and keep up to date with the latest news on a day to day basis.
We should also note that, following the success of the Argentinian editions, this is the fifth year that Uruguay was also presenting the event (taking place this year from April 12 through 18 in Montevideo and Punta Del Este). And, for the first time, Chile has presented a dozen unreleased French films in Santiago and Viña del Mar, at the "El nuevo cine francés" Preview Screenings (April 6-11). Laurent Cantet travelled to Santiago after his trip to Buenos Aires.
