Synopsis
The Gir Forest, in Gujarat, north-west India. This is where the last lions outside of Africa survive. The forest is also home to the Maldhari herders. A century ago, these humans and lions established a kind of peace that has enabled both to survive. This alliance between humans and felines saved the last lions in Asia. In the space of a century, their numbers have risen from 15 to almost 700.
Today, the sanctuary forest is no longer enough for them, their territory is expanding, and they find themselves confronted by a new human population.
