Synopsis

Back in 2003, Bertrand Cantat was questioned by Lithuanian authorities about the circumstances surrounding the death of Marie Trintignant. He described a dispute that had gone wrong, denying that he intentionally killed his partner. Initially facing up to 15 years in prison, he was ultimately sentenced to 8 years for involuntary manslaughter. He was released in 2007 for good behavior, having served half his sentence. Sixteen years after the events, domestic violence is on the rise in France, with a 20% increase in 2018. A form of silence has formed around Bertrand Cantat, concealing his violent tendencies. Relatives of Marie Trintignant, artists, and witnesses to the couple’s final moments break the silence and share their testimonies about a domestic tragedy that continues to leave a painful mark to this day.
