TikTok, young people’s favorite app, now has almost 1.6 billion users worldwide, and almost one in three of them in France. For many, it’s a simple streaming video feed, with dances, animals, songs and star inf luencers with millions of subscribers. But, above all, it’s the global success of China, owned by Byte Dance. A technological revolution whose content management system remains opaque, even to its moderators. An increasingly powerful platform, accused like other social networks of collecting our personal data. With one difference: it is suspected of passing this data on to the Chinese regime and influencing public opinion worldwide.
