Synopsis
For more than fifty years, scientists and governments have encouraged the use of synthetic fertilizers, plant protection products, monoculture and mechanization to increase agricultural yields. Today it is urgent to find other systems that can guarantee food security for humanity, while being less harmful to the environment.
Since 2014, the state of Andhra Pradesh in India, has been pursuing a large-scale program to convert 6 million farmers to natural agriculture (also known as zero-cost farming) and researchers around the world have their eyes on the project. In eight years, more than 10% of these 6 million farmers have made a choice, to see the land as an ally and not as a tool. They have seen their harvests double, sometimes even triple.
In the heart of the villages of the state of Andhra Pradesh and with the support of the Indian administration, the transition begins with intense training courses alongside gurus. It transforms the daily life, the work and the mentality of the farmers. This film is an immersive discovery of the largest agricultural transition in the world.
