Synopsis
The first films from Patagonia - where I grew up - depict a land that no longer exists, as the thousand-year-old Araucaria trees have been partly replaced by pine trees. Near my new home in Brussels, I find Araucarias adorning the front yards. How did these plants become a petit-bourgeois fashion here? I confront these images with contemporary scientific images, used by a laboratory to explore plant modification. What can these modes of representation tell us about our times?
