In 1879, French diplomat Ferdinand de Lesseps embarks in the greatest adventure of his life. After his success in building the Suez Canal, he once more tries to unite two oceans, Atlantic and Pacific, through the Isthmus of Panama. However, this adventure will cost him his reputation, thousands of innocent lives and the biggest financial scandal of the 19th century. Forgotten today, de Lesseps lives through his legacy in Suez and the memories of his family. But most people in Panama, France and the world do not remember him - a man who was the most famous entrepreneur of its time. He lost is honor after the biggest scandal of 19th century. But was he a visionary hero? Or a corrupt thief?
