Synopsis
There's no daddy? In Clichy-sous-Bois, isolated women hope for a dignified home for their families, city hall helps them as it can. Female soccer players prepare a tournament at Clairefontaine, the temple of men's soccer. High school students invent a theater show around the murder of Chilperic in the nearby forest. They make the female characters the driving force of the play. Children are born, the girls and boys of tomorrow.
A portrait of Clichy-sous-Bois in 2019, The End of the Kings tells the story of the state and evolution of gender relations in a city in the Parisian high rise hinterlands.
