Once upon a time, there was a boy called Leo who loved a girl called Alma. He'd promised to make her laugh her whole life. War separated them. Alma fled to New York, but Leo survived everything so as to find Alma again and to keep his promise.
Today, in Brooklyn, there lives a teenager full of passion, imagination, and with a fiery spirit, who's also called Alma. Across the bridge, in Chinatown, Leo, who has become a mischievous and amusing old man, lives with the memory of "the most-loved woman in the world," the great love of his life. There seems to be no common link between Leo and the young Alma. And yet...
From the Poland of the 1930s to Central Park today, a journey through time and across continents will bring their destinies together.
