Synopsis
Young Sulayman lives in Morocco in the "clay rock" region, in perfect harmony with the fauna and flora. An orphan, he was raised by an elderly hermit nicknamed the man "with the unruly veins." Sulayman encounters Khadija, the daughter of the chief of a vast region, a man hungry for power who views with a jaundiced eye his daughter's marriage with a shepherd.
At the moment when the Second World War is declared, Sulayman is forcibly enrolled in the French army. He finds himself traversing unknown lands, as intriguing as they are dangerous. Plunged into the atrocities of the war, he decides to try at any cost to find a form of humanity in the fate of the Moroccan soldiers embarked despite themselves into a conflict that barely concerns them... More than a war film, Les Hommes d'argile is a fable about the human condition.
