The Apostate
Synopsis
Thirty-year-old Gonzalo Tamayo, a native of Madrid, is still continuing his philosophy studies - without great conviction. At a turning point in his adult life, Gonzalo thinks that an obstacle blocks his aspiration to reinvent his life: no one asked his consent before he was baptized. He hence decides to apostatize and sets the process to be removed from the Church's books in motion. In this radical break he sees the end of his torments and of his attachment to his mother. He then sets out on a wild chase from prelate to cardinal, leaving mild chaos in his wake. Everyone thinks his quest is crazy, but through it he reexamines his past and is overcome with strange visions. Will he win his freedom?
