Synopsis
In five chapters with lyrical titles borrowed from Rimbaud or other powerful voices, Songs from the Protests passes from Calais to Paris, from black and white to color, from silent to sound, from Super 8 to video, from stifled words to free jazz, from winter snow to the recent May 1 demonstrations, from migrants' bodies to a pamphlet aimed against the recantations of the class in power. Although the urgency of the news sears shots, even turning some of them red, the news doesn't merely focus on the present alone, but stretches between a past and a future that the editing joins end to end.
