Chougha is a 30-year-old married woman and mother. She lives in Astana, the new capital of Kazakhstan, and is wealthy and cherished. She falls madly in love with an idle, pampered man.
Caught up in her passion, she abandons husband and child to be with her lover. Soon, love proves to be an illusion and passion a trap. With no hope left, Chouga commits suicide.
Chouga is loosely based on Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina.
