David and Eric, two brothers in their twenties, run "The Ranch", the snackbar of an isolated campground in the dunes of a vast Normandy beach. It's the end of the summer season; surfers and tourists no longer abound. Overtaken by the reigning inertia, David and Bouclette, the Pony Club instructor, tentatively attempt to envisage the low season and the months ahead.
For his part Eric, the older brother, seems tormented, torn. His attention already seems to drift elsewhere. One day, he disappears... for good.
