Orlando Vargas lives in Uruguay with his wife, Alice, and their five-year-old son, Thomas. Political pressure is being applied; Gaspard, Orlando’s assistant, is clearly concerned for his boss, while Costas, a shady colleague, congratulates him on his courage. Under constant surveillance by the police, Orlando seems indifferent to the danger surrounding him. Only Thomas witnesses the deepseated anger his father tries to drown in alcohol. Surprising his friends and family, Orlando decides to leave with Alice and Thomas to Josefina, the last seaside village before the border with Brazil. Things come to a head in this sleepy little town. Orlando disappears the same day as the family arrives there. Alice must then face up to the truth about the man she loves.
