The Kidnappers
Synopsis
Ace safecracker Armand gets out of jail, only to find another guy in bed with his girlfriend Claire — a money-loving good-time girl, expert disabler of security systems and guardian angel of her kid brother, Zero — a depressive, maniacal getaway driver who grates on the delicate nerves of Ulysse — a gun-crazy, terminally small-time crook. They should never have worked together, let alone trusted one another, but Ulysse won’t take no for an answer. He’s decided that he and his dream team are going to pull off the easiest burglary of the century.

“The Kidnappers’“ is a genre movie and there aren’t many of those in France. I like American films. They have no problem with making entertainment movies. They don’t feel hung-up or guilty about it. They give pleasure, and that’s already quite something. [...] A word often used about my first film, ‘Shooting Stars’, was ‘offbeat’. This time I took a more straightforward approach, with down-to-earth situations that the actors approach on the level, not tongue-in-cheek. It’s an action movie but there’s still a kind of lightness about it. (Graham Guit in “Le Journal du Dimanche”)
