Synopsis
Life is tough these days in Kiev if you're no good at hunting down the mighty dollar. And Anatoli isn't! He's an intellectual that the new "Capitalist" jungle has left out in the cold. To survive, he goes from odd job to odd job. Unsurprisingly, his wife winds up leaving him for another. But Anatoli hasn't the stomach to react: sickened by it all, he lapses into passivity and chooses suicide. Yet, what do you know? He has the chance to organise his own suicide, at the hand of another! Hit men are ten-a-penny in Kiev. Yet, once again, he fails... It's the beginning of a series of misunderstandings and bizarre encounters which may help him fit into this savage world. But can an honest intellectual ever be cured?

About
"I am sure the story of this film speaks for most cultivated people living in lands within the former Soviet Union. In the absence of liberty, people banded together. Human warmth existed. Suddenly, freedom came, and with it came coldness and solitude. We realized that not everyone was ready for it, and that there was little room for the weak. Yet, not everyone can be strong. In Ukrainian, the word "to love" and to "feel sorry for" are sometimes considered as synonyms. So, I made this film for those I feel sorry for, for those I love." (Viatcheslav Krichtofovitch)
