Ma Vie en Rose" is a film about being different. It's about a little boy, Ludovic, who thinks he's a little girl. What seems normal to him doesn't seem that way to other people. Some things are done and some are not, no matter how natural they may feel to us. It is also a film about a mother and father who don't know how to deal with the strength and tenacity of their child's belief. The parents react as best they can, but they are hurt by the disapproval that shows in their neighbours' faces. It's about a peaceful neighbourhood that discovers difference, the fear of strangeness, lack of understanding and rejection. It is about dreams, magic and hope. (Alain Berliner)

About
For my first film, I chose a first film. I liked the idea that it would be a double discovery for me: the adventure of a feature film and the encounter with a new director, a new world. The thing that won me over in Chris Vander Stappen's screenplay was the depiction of this childish, open and magical world where everything is possible. Then, I saw Alain Berliner's short film and found it remarkable for its audacity and poetry, the very qualities required to direct "Ma vie en rose". Production, just like distribution, requires both financial and aesthetic commitment. I felt it was important to invest myself in a subject that has been barely tackled by French cinema: the fundamental ambivalence in every human being. A producer's work is a task of presence and perseverance throughout the development of the project: thirteen drafts of the screenplay, a very long and complicated casting process. In the end, deciding to produce someone is a little like getting married...(Carole Scotta, producer of "Ma vie en rose")
