Synopsis
Following the death of a colleague, Alan cross, an inspector with Scotland Yard, arrives in a small French port in September 1938 as the threat of war looms large. He encounters Celia Graves, a dangerously charming and disturbing beauty with a sinister smile. On investigating her past, he discovers a series of mysterious murders. By the time Cross realizes that Celia is at the heart of them, she is already in his arms...

"In "Innocent Lies", Patrick Dewolf took his inspiration from Agatha Christie and distorted her work by adding (or revealing a hidden side to her novels ?) violent sensuality and venomous eroticism. Then, using a particularly versatile plot, he darkened the characters to suit the historic context of 1938 and so obtain a modern interpretation of the famous writer's works."
