Synopsis
Mario earns his living working on the family fishing boat. He dreams of other things, but there are not many alternatives in the 1950s in this fishing village tucked away on a beautiful Italian island. When a nearby village needs a postman, Mario jumps at the job. The only address he has to deliver to is the house of a new arrival, the famous exiled Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda. As the months go by, the two men gradually get to know each other and Mario discovers a world he had never dreamed of.

About
"(...) "The Postman" also has poetry usually not a big seller on film. Still, the poetry is put in the mouth of the humble postman. In doing this, the film makers have made the poetry nonthreatening to mainstream audiences (...). And here, of course, the poetry is Neruda's, which can melt the most hardened heart.(...)"
