Event presentation
Every year Filmfest Hamburg has one thematic focus and presents numerous contemporary currents of world cinema. More than 130 national and international feature- and documentary films are shown as World-, European- or German premieres. Every year more than 200 directors, actors, producers and screenwriters present their films in person at Filmfest Hamburg. Among them international guests, e.g.: Academy Award winners such as Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster and David Cronenberg, arthouse filmmakers such as Aki Kaurismäki, Jim Jarmusch and Wim Wenders, Dogma-founder Lars von Trier and German directors such as Fatih Akin, Ayse Polat and Oliver Hirschbiegel represent the festival’s entire – and often controversial – artistic plenitude.
More than 1000 accredited business visitors accompany one of the largest German audience festivals which takes place every fall in 5 venues on 11 screens in the city of Hamburg in Northern Germany.
