The Israeli film director Shlomi Elkabetz is a member of the Filmaker's Jury of the 7th edition of MyFrenchFilmFestival!
After living for seven years in New York, Shlomi Elkabetz returned to his native country and wrote, with his sister, the late lamented Ronit Elkabetz, a cinematographic trilogy. Deeply imbued with their family's history, the films of this trilogy were a great success with audiences and critics alike.
To Take a Wife, the first part, released in 2004, earned the Elkabetz siblings the Audience Award (Critics' Week) and the Isvema Award at the Venice Film Festival , as well as the Critics' Award - Special Mention at the Hamburg International Film Festival. The second part, 7 Days, won the Best Israeli Feature at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Last but not least, Gett, The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, the final part of the trilogy, was nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, and allowed the duo to receive the prestigious Best Director Award at the Ophir Awards (the Israeli Oscars).
Shlomi Elkabetz will select, with the other Filmmaker's Jury members (Pablo Trapero, jury president, Rebecca Zlotowski, Bertrand Bonello, and Fabrice Du Welz) the festival's winning feature. Discover the awards here on February 13, 2017!
