Actor Benoît Magimel has accepted Unifrance's invitation (with backing from the French Embassy in Germany and the German distributor 3L Filmverleih) to participate in a promotional tour in Munich and Hamburg, which kicks off today.
Magimel's program includes a masterclass at the celebrated Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen de Munich Film School whose graduates include Wim Wenders, Roland Emmerich, Bernd Eichinger and Caroline Link. He will be meeting with producers and distributors, festival directors from Germany's two largest film festivals after Berlin: M. Ströhl from Munich and M. Wiederspiel from Hamburg, as well as the German director Fatih Akin. He will end his stay with a presentation of "Sky Fighters" by Gérard Pirès in a preview screening for Hamburg audiences, and will be working to promote the film, which will be released in Germany February 23 on 180 prints, throughout the tour.
This is not Benoît Magimel's first trip to Germany: the actor has already traveled to Munich for "The Piano Teacher" by Michael Haneke, and to Berlin for "The Flower of Evil" by Claude Chabrol. He was also in Berlin December 16 to prepare for the release of "Sky Fighters."
