The Rendez-vous with French Cinema in the United Kingdom will take place in London from June 8 through 11.
This aim of this initiative is to present six French films which have been acquired in the UK and are slated for release within two months of the Rendez-vous event. The following films, selected in close collaboration with distributors, will be showcased at the event:
The Concert by Radu Mihaileanu (in the presence of the director), Gainsbourg (Vie héroïque) by Joann Sfar (in the presence of the director), Wild Grass by Alain Resnais (in the presence of Sabine Azéma), Leaving by Catherine Corsini (in the presence of the director and Kristin Scott Thomas), The Refuge by François Ozon (in the presence of the director and Louis-Ronan Choisy), as well as a special screening of Jean-Luc Godard's classic Breathless.
The films will be presented in preview screenings at the Curzon Soho, the BFI, and the Ciné Lumière. Each screening will be followed by Meet and Greet sessions and discussions with audiences hosted by the journalists Jonathan Rommey (The Independent), and Ian Haydn Smith and Dave Calhoun (Time Out).
Publicity for this event will be boosted by the purchase of advertising space in the magazines Sight & Sound and Time Out, as well as a poster campaign in London, organized in partnership with Decaux. The French-language television network Cinémoi will also cover the event.
