Following Munich and London, Unifrance's Up & Coming Stars initiative will be held in Rome on Monday, October 22, during the 2nd Rome Film Fest.
Supported by this year’s patrons, French actor Ariane Ascaride and Italian director Alessandro D’Alatri, 8 French actors (Cécile Cassel, Chloé Coulloud, Stéphanie Crayencour, Elodie Navarre, Fua’d Ait Attou, Andy Gillet, Grégoire Leprince Ringuet, Johan Libéreau) and 8 Italian actors (Valentina Cervi, Carolina Crescentini, Valentina Lodovini, Alba Rorwacher, Giorgio Pasotti, Filippo Timi, Fabio Troiani, Michele Venitucci) will be in Rome to attend a ceremony co-organized by Unifrance and Filmitalia. Excerpts from their films will be screened to an audience of French and Italian movie professionals. The following day, the actors will take part in media interviews at the French Embassy in Rome.
In a new innovation this year, French and Italian casting directors will participate in the initiative, through cross-communication meetings with actors from both countries.
In attendance last year in Rome, where she accepted the Film Fest’s first Best Actress Award for her performance in Le Voyage en Arménie (Armenia), Ariane Ascaride is proud to be this year’s patron: “It is both a great pleasure and an honor for me to accompany this delegation of young French actors to the Rome Film Fest. Now more than ever, we see the vital importance of communication and interaction between movie industry players, and thanks to the Rome festival’s international reach, we have an opportunity to facilitate this exchange. Meetings between young French and Italian actors can only be beneficial, and this initiative once again highlights the effectiveness of Unifrance’s activities.”
Unifrance will also be handling international media relations for the following films: Ce que mes yeux ont vu (The Vanishing Point) by Laurent Bertillat, Le Deuxième Souffle (The Second Wind) by Alain Corneau, On dirait que… (Let’s Say) by Françoise Marie, and La Tête de maman (In Mom’s Head) by Carine Tardieu.
