Competition:
Today sees the official presentation of "The Uncertainty Principle" by Manoel De Oliveira, at 2.30 p.m. at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
After causing a stir at the 54th Cannes Festival with his film "Vou Para Casa" ("I'm Going Home"), this Portuguese filmmaker, a veteran of the festival with numerous awards to his credit, returns this year to present his new film. "The Uncertainty Principle" was produced by Madragoa Filmes and Gemini, with distribution in France and international sales handled by Gemini.
Un Certain Regard:
"Terra Incognita," by writer and screenwriter Ghassan Salhab, is to be presented today. The film was produced by Agat Films & Cie, distributed in France by Ad Vitam, and abroad by Films Distribution (11 a.m. – 4.45 p.m., Théâtre Debussy).
"Carnage," debut feature by Delphine Gleize, produced by Balthazar Productions, distributed in France by Diaphana and sold abroad by Wild Bunch, is screened today at 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. at the Théâtre Debussy.
Directors' Fortnight:
"Seaside" by Julie Lopes-Curval at 11.15 a.m. and 5 p.m.
After directing "Mademoiselle Butterfly," a short film that was selected and highly acclaimed at many foreign film festivals, Julie Lopes-Curval is now presenting her first feature, "Seaside." The film was produced by Alain Benguigui for Sombrero and is distributed by Pyramide, with international sales handled by FPI.
"Nada +" by Juan Carlos Cremata, a Franco-Cuban co-production, is presented today at 2.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. It is a first feature for Cremata, who started out his career as a writer and actor for children's programs before directing a short film ("Oscuros Rinocerontes Enjaulados") and a documentary ("La Epoca, El Encanto Y Fin De Siglo"). "Nada +" was produced by Thierry Forte (DMVB Films) and the ICAIC (Cuba) along with PHF Fils (Spain).
