Two French films in completely different genres boast the best per-print averages in the general charts on their opening weekends.
Launched August 25 by Tobis Film on 122 prints, "Empire of the Wolves" jumped to 8th place with close to 60,000 admissions registered in four days (for €360,000 in receipts). With an average of 484 admissions per print, the film by Chris Nahon (produced by Gaumont) posts by far the best per-print average for that weekend, including films of all nationalities. A well known actor in Germany thanks to the two episodes of "The Crimson Rivers," Jean Reno once again proves his popularity with German audiences.
The same can be said for Isabelle Huppert, who stars alongside Catherine Frot in "Me and My Sister," released the same day. The film by Alexandra Leclère (produced by Alicéléo and sold by StudioCanal), which had already attracted considerable attention at the Munich International Film Festival, took out 13th place in the German charts with 22,000 admissions to its credit (and €135 000 in receipts).
Despite lackluster movie attendance in Germany at this time, these films join the ranks of other high-performing French films, such as "L’Equipier" ("The Light"), with 120,000 admissions registered since its release June 16 by Arsenal Filmverleih; "Crustacés et coquillages" ("Mariscos Beach"), with 107,000 admissions since its release by Prokino July 21) and "Brodeuses" ("A Common Thread"), with 75,000 admissions, released by Delphi Filmverleih.
