This year, out of the 93 films submitted by the candidate countries for the Oscar for Best International Feature – and in addition to Titane, which will represent France – 24 films are coproductions, among which at least three films are majority coproductions.
The 2017 record (27 films with a French coproduction share out of the 92 submitted to the AMPAS for the Best International Feature Oscar, including four with a majority share) was not beaten, but the presence of 24 French-produced or coproduced films, i.e., almost a quarter of the 93 films submitted by the candidate countries (nominations have been closed since November 1), still testifies to the great vitality of France's international production companies, which are very involved in coproductions, some of which benefit from the CNC's Aide aux Cinémas du Monde fund.
The designation of the competitors will be carried out in successive stages, with a first shortlist (fifteen films) revealed on December 21. The final list of the five titles that will compete for the statuette will be announced on February 8, 2022, and the ceremony will take place on March 27.
Titane, the film chosen to represent France, has not been mentioned de facto. French production companies are mentioned for each film.
