The 29th edition of the French Film Festival in Yokohama, organized by UniFrance in partnership with the City of Yokohama , Nissan, and the Ambassade de France in Japan, will take place from November 11 to 14. 11 feature films (including an audiovisual documentary) will be shown to an audience with a great love of French cinema, in the large cinema of the Aeon Cinema multiplex, located on the top floor of the World Porters shopping mall, in the Minato Mirai district.
Aline, the Voice of Love by Valérie Lemercier will open the festival in the huge Pacifico, Yokohama's exhibition center. Like last year, a big drive-in session (My Donkey, My Lover & I) will also be presented in partnership with Nissan, on the opening night, at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, accessible to hybrid cars.
Several French artists participated in filmed Q&A sessions at UniFrance, which will be subtitled and screened following the films.
An extension of the festival is planned in Fukuoka – where some films of the selection will be presented – in collaboration with the Institut Français in Japan.
Finally, market screenings (of French films) for Japanese buyers will be organized before the festival, from October 18 to 28, in Tokyo in a cinema in the central district of Shinjuku.
This year, the Japanese actress, model, and singer Anne will be the festival's muse. She was present at the press conference (photo below) along with the French ambassador to Japan Philippe Setton, and the mayor of Yokohama Mr. Takeharu Yamanaka, who mentioned The Lovers on the Bridge as his first memory of French cinema.
